Ratings Increase

Many veterans already receive VA disability benefits. However, many of those same veterans are being paid too little for the nature of their disability. This is because many veterans fail to stay on top of changing laws, rules and regulations that would open the door to higher ratings. In a general sense, to receive an increase in disability compensation, a veteran must show that the symptoms of their disability is worsening and provide a reason for the worsening condition. A common example of how this works is found in conditions such as degenerative disc disease. By its very nature, this condition is a degenerative condition. This means that it is expected to grow worse over time. To increase one’s VA disability rating, one must show that the symptoms are getting worse and then offer qualified medical evidence demonstrating the basis and reason for the worsening of the condition.
